Tennessee Behavioral Health is a trusted drug and alcohol rehab serving Nashville and Middle Tennessee. Benzodiazepine withdrawal requires supervision.
Stopping Xanax abruptly can be dangerous, which is why our medical team supervises every taper. Most people started it for anxiety, so we treat that alongside the dependence.

This is a very welcoming place and small facility, so you get a lot of one-on-one attention. The food is excellent and they take you on a lot of fun outings. If you want a good foundation to start your recovery, this is a wonderful facility.

Loved the various counselors they have with years of practice. They have various styles and thus I think you’ll find several if not all, that are helpful in your journey.

TBH went above and beyond to help me with my recovery. I needed a 2 week reset after a relapse and they gave more effort and appreciation than the other recoveries I have been to they go above and beyond to help with one on one care and a super supportive family style care. Allison was one of the best parts with being super helpful as the program director

Healing, growth, a beautiful new beginning—and the new family I found along the way. My time at Tennessee Behavioral Health was a true journey of transformation. Through patience, compassion, and genuine care from the staff, I began to heal in ways I never expected. What started as an uncertain step toward change became one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. I found peace, clarity, and confidence, and left with a deep sense of self and purpose that I’ll carry forever. The house at Tennessee Behavioral Health is truly a place of comfort and healing. The outings and gym time were always enjoyable and gave us moments to relax, recharge, and feel normal again. Charles’s groups were meaningful and encouraging, helping us learn, grow, and connect. Attending church brought peace and renewal. The health care staff is beyond exceptional. Morgan, the Health Care Director, leads with compassion and integrity, setting the tone for the team. Leah Lima, APN, and nurses Laci, Candi, Meghan, and Chantelle are extraordinary—each provides care that goes far beyond medical needs. They listen, support, and make you feel truly seen and valued, and their kindness and dedication made each day feel safe and hopeful. The technicians—Scott, Dylan, and Jack—are amazing. They’re patient, funny, and genuinely care. Whether it was a conversation, a shared laugh, or help with something small, they always brought warmth and positivity. Chris, the chef, is wonderful—his food is incredible. Every meal tasted like it came straight from a five-star restaurant, and his kindness made dining something to look forward to every day. Johnna, my case manager, truly changed my life. She understood me deeply and was there every step of the way—listening, guiding, and supporting me through my growth. Her compassion, humor, and steady encouragement helped me rediscover parts of myself I thought were gone. Johnna is one of those rare people who make you feel seen and supported no matter what, and I’ll always be grateful for her. Allison, the Program Director, is one of the most compassionate and genuine people I’ve ever met—and hilarious in the best way. Her humor brightens even the hardest days, and her laughter fills the house with warmth. Beyond that, Allison is an exceptional leader—she balances professionalism with heart, always taking time to listen and understand. She goes above and beyond for everyone under her care, advocating fiercely and offering support that’s both wise and heartfelt. Her empathy and authenticity make her someone who instantly feels like home. Albert, the Director of Tennessee Behavioral Health, is the heart and soul of the program. His dedication and compassion are unmatched. He pours his heart into every part of Tennessee Behavioral Health—the home, the staff, and every client. The love and effort he invests are felt in every corner of the house. Albert leads with sincerity, vision, and a true commitment to helping others heal. His presence inspires trust, hope, and belonging. His passion has built something truly special—something that changes lives every single day. I thank God for being blessed with Tennessee Behavioral Health. It isn’t just a program—it’s a family. I love each of them dearly for the compassion, encouragement, laughter, and faith they poured into me. They believed in me until I could believe in myself. Because of them, my life is filled with peace, confidence, and hope—and I’ll forever be grateful for everything Tennessee Behavioral Health gave me. ❤️

Importance of Safe Xanax Medical Detox
Safe Xanax detox is crucial for individuals who have developed a physical dependence or substance use disorder involving this short-acting benzodiazepine, a prescription drug commonly used to treat anxiety disorders and panic disorders. Xanax (alprazolam) carries a high risk for relapse, along with severe psychological symptoms and physical withdrawal symptoms.
Risk of Severe Withdrawal
Abruptly stopping Xanax use, especially after prolonged or high-dose use, can lead to severe withdrawal symptoms, including seizures, hallucinations, anxiety, and panic attacks. Safe Xanax detox ensures that individuals are under medical supervision to manage these symptoms safely.
Minimizing Health Risks
Xanax withdrawal can lead to life-threatening complications, such as seizures, severe agitation, and delirium. Medical supervision during detox reduces the risk of these severe health issues.
Reducing Discomfort and Distress
Xanax withdrawal symptoms can be highly distressing and uncomfortable. Safe detox programs provide medical intervention and support to alleviate these symptoms, making the process more bearable.
Preventing Relapse
The discomfort of Xanax withdrawal can drive individuals to seek the drug to relieve their symptoms, increasing the risk of relapse. Safe detox offers a controlled environment that reduces the likelihood of returning to Xanax use.
Addressing Co-Occurring Conditions
Many individuals addicted to Xanax may have co-occurring mental health issues, such as anxiety or depression. Safe detox provides the opportunity to identify and address these underlying conditions as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
Emotional Support
Xanax withdrawal can lead to emotional distress, anxiety, and mood swings. Safe detox programs often provide counseling, therapy, and emotional support to help individuals cope with these feelings.
Our Approach to Xanax Detox
Our Xanax detox program prioritizes your safety, comfort, and overall well-being. We understand the physical symptoms and mental health symptoms associated with benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome, and we are dedicated to providing the medical care and support you need during this critical phase of your recovery journey.
Medical Supervision and Safety
Detoxing from Xanax (alprazolam) can lead to acute withdrawal symptoms that vary in severity, including anxiety symptoms, intense anxiety, muscle aches, heart palpitations, insomnia, and seizures in severe cases. That’s why we conduct our detoxification process under the close supervision of health care providers at our drug detox center. Your safety is our priority, and our treatment team is equipped to manage severe symptoms, including withdrawal period complications such as brain damage, gastrointestinal discomfort, and rapid heart rates.
Compassionate and Understanding Care
We offer a comfortable recovery environment for individuals undergoing Xanax detox. Our team of treatment providers, including addiction specialists and mental health treatment professionals, understands the psychological dependence and emotional balance challenges that may arise. We provide therapy sessions, individual therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy to address mental disorders, such as bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety disorders, and co-occurring mental health disorders.
Individualized Treatment Plans
Every person’s experience with benzodiazepine addiction is unique, and so is their treatment process. Our treatment center offers individualized treatment plans tailored to your level of care. We assess factors such as frequent doses of benzodiazepine medication, abuse potential, and co-occurring disorders to create the most effective medical detoxification approach for you.
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) may be used during Xanax detox to manage unpleasant withdrawal symptoms and reduce the risk of severe addiction relapse. Our treatment professionals carefully monitor doses of benzodiazepines, such as a dose of diazepam, to ease acute benzodiazepine withdrawal. This approach helps prevent risk for complications such as shortness of breath, slurred speech, and muscle spasms.
Aftercare Planning
Detox is the step toward recovery, but achieving long-term recovery requires ongoing care. Our aftercare planning includes outpatient treatment programs, residential treatment programs, and 12-step facilitation therapy to support you beyond detox. We work with popular insurance providers to ensure coverage for rehab, making professional addiction treatment accessible. Whether you need inpatient rehab, outpatient care, or a continuum of care, we provide treatment options that align with your needs.
Building a Support Network for Recovery
Achieving long-term recovery from benzodiazepine addiction requires more than just completing the withdrawal process. At our treatment facility, we offer a full continuum of care, including residential treatment, outpatient rehab programs, and specialized drug treatment programs to help individuals build a strong foundation for sobriety. Our treatment professionals focus on symptom management and relapse prevention, addressing psychological dependence, mental health conditions, and physical risks associated with abrupt cessation. Through therapy programs, behavioral therapies, and medical treatment, we support individuals dealing with co-occurring mental health conditions, anxiolytic use disorder, and other forms of treatment needed for a successful road to recovery.
